MANUAL THERAPY

It is often referred to as “hands on” treatment. It includes massage, joint mobilization, active release techniques, as well as manipulation, which therapists incorporate stronger short thrust techniques if indicated to restore mobility and reduce pain at specific point. Therapists require advanced post graduate training (FCAMT) for utilizing this technique.

ELECTROTHERAPY

Electrotherapy treatment including:

  • Ultrasound
  • Laser
  • Interferential current (IFC)
  • Shortwave diathermy
  • TENS
  • Electrical Muscular Stimulation (EMS)
  • Biofeedback

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy is a safe, non-invasive procedure for client suffering from soft tissue and joint disorders. It applies a series of acoustic wave pulsations directly to the site of injury through the client’s skin via a gel medium, and does not require the use of medication or analgesics. The shockwave therapy stimulates the body’s natural self-healing process and is therefore particularly effective when used to treat chronic conditions that continue to re-occur or conditions that have not been successfully managed through traditional treatment methods. Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS)

IMS is a dry needling technique that helps reduce adverse tone in tight muscle bands or trigger points that contribute to pain, inflammation and dysfunction. It is a very effective technique developed by Dr. Chan Gunn for the treatment of chronic or neuropathic pain. Special assessment is done to determine if IMS is appropriate for you.

EXERCISE THERAPY

Specific stretching and strengthening as well as stabilization exercises are critical for rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries. Therapists prescribe these therapeutic exercises to improve mobility, strength, endurance, posture and gait.

Acupunture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese needling technique based on the principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine to stimulate specific body points. Special trained physiotherapists use needles (dry needling), TENS or laser on these points to promote regular flow of Qi (energy) as well as balancing particular body systems so as to reduce pain, stimulate natural healing and improve overall function.

PERSONAL TRAINING

The importance of fitness, wellness, and maintaining an active lifestyle is becoming evidently recognized. Whether you are attempting to recover from an injury, to lose weight, to improve sports performance, or to simply want to build self-confidence, personal training can be a beneficial and excellent choice of health investment. Our Kinesiologists will guide you through an one-on-one program that will help you achieve your fitness goals. Please contact us for an assessment.

ACTIVE REHABILITATION
(Active Rehab)

The main focus of our trainers is to help ICBC clients returning to their pre-injury physical level. Utilizing evidence-based approaches, we develop individualized and progressive fitness, or active rehab programs to gradually restore flexibility, strength, and endurance levels. Exercises are assigned to perform at the clinic as well as at home.
